2014 Edgar Nominees!

An actual Edgar award! Cute, huh? This one belongs to Jack Farraiolo.
The 2014 nominees for the Edgar Award were announced this week! If you're not familiar with the Edgar Award, it's kind of like the Oscars for mystery writers. Every year, Mystery Writers of America (MWA) comes out with a short list of nominees, five books in various categories, and the winners are announced in May at a fancy black tie affair. Here's the link to all this year's Edgar nominees.

Oh, and since this blog is all about KIDLIT mysteries, here is the list of the YA and MG ("juvenile") nominees! Some of these folks have been interviewed in our Interrogation Room, so we've included links to their interviews in case you missed them!

BEST JUVENILE:

Strike Three, You're Dead by Josh Berk (Random House Children's Books – Alfred A. Knopf BFYR)
Moxie and the Art of Rule Breaking by Erin Dionne (Penguin Young Readers Group – Dial)
P.K. Pinkerton and the Petrified Man by Caroline Lawrence (Penguin Young Readers Group – Putnam Juvenile)
Lockwood & Co.: The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud (Disney Publishing Worldwide – Disney-Hyperion)

Criminal by Terra Elan McVoy (Simon & Schuster – Simon Pulse)
How to Lead a Life of Crime by Kirsten Miller (Penguin Young Readers Group – Razorbill)
Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher (Hachette Book Group – Little, Brown Books for Young Readers)

How many of these nominated books have YOU read? Which have you liked? We'd love to know -- drop us a comment! Which ones are you most eagerly adding to your TBR list?

Has anyone read them ALL?

PS - That photo at the top of this page would make a fun writing prompt! Who are the two people pictured with Edgar, and what are they talking about? Or plotting? Hmm....
